GEM Committee (Government, Education, and Mining) 
The National GEM Committee mission is to be an SME public education leader, assisting efforts to educate the public regarding the impact and importance of mining and minerals to society. This effort is nationwide and interactive to ensure that successes in all regions become shared information and that programs are coordinated. The support and assistance provided by the GEM Committee will be unrestricted and will include cooperation with all stakeholders in the mining and mineral education process to help all concerned achieve their highest possible efficiency and effectiveness.
