Description APTsorb can best be described as a low-cost ion exchange media effective on a wide range of heavy metals. It harnesses the natural ion exchange mechanism common to any bog. This mechanism is preserved in a process that consists of a granulation step followed by partial activation yielding a hard granule with increased internal surface area. The granular nature and high wet strength allow for high hydraulic loading that is many times greater than the parent peat. This allows for effective treatment of contaminated water in an area much smaller than would be required for a natural or artificial wetland.
