Description Penn State's Mining Engineering program is one of the oldest in the country and has proudly offered many engineers, researchers, and leaders to the global mineral industry. The program is housed in the John and Willie Leone Family Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering, which offers a range of degree programs addressing the effective production, conversion, use and management of mineral resources. Its mission is to educate engineers, scientists, and professionals who will help provide society with an affordable supply of energy and minerals; work to ensure human health and safety; and protect and maintain the quality of the environment.
