Awarded To: J. Steven Gardner


President/CEO of Engineering Consulting Services, Inc. (ECSI) headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky has worked as an engineer and manager in both mining operations and consulting engineering during his 30+ year career and served on a mine rescue team. Licensed Professional Engineer in Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee, and a Licensed Professional Surveyor in West Virginia. He co-edited the “Coal Mining Reference Book” published by the Kentucky Mining Institute and used by the Kentucky Office of Mine Safety and Licensing as a study guide for the mine foreman’s exam. His consulting practice focuses on energy, natural resources, environmental, health and safety, sensitive land use issues, and industrial heritage projects. He holds a BS in Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering and MS in Mining Engineering from the University of Kentucky and a graduate level Environmental Systems Certificate. He serves as Vice-Chairman of the Kentucky State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
