The 2012 Erskine Ramsay Medal Award 
Awarded To: Christopher Bise
For his distinguished leadership and achievements as an engineer,
consultant, researcher, educator, author, and administrator, and his ability to integrate
various advances in science, engineering, and management for the betterment of the
U.S. coal-mining industry.
The Ramsay Medal, established in 1948, and funded by AIME, recognizes distinguished achievement in coal mining, to include both bituminous coal and anthracite.
