The 2012 Robert M. Dreyer Award  

Awarded To: Peter Megaw


In recognition of his imaginative applications of the science of geology to the discovery of Carbonate Replacement Deposits (CRD) and Epithermal Silver-Gold Vein Deposits (EVD) in Mexico, for his untiring efforts in the study and understanding of how CRD and EVD deposits fit into the geologic evolution of Mexico, and mostly for his discoveries: the Juanicipio-Valdecañas epithermal veins in the western Fresnillo District, Zacatecas and the Platosa, Durango and Pozo-Seco/Cinco de Mayo, Chihuahua CRD deposits, and lastly for his lecture, "Undercover Exploration in Mexico.”

About The Robert M. Dreyer Award:

The Robert M. Dreyer Award in Applied Economic Geology, established as an annual Award in 1999, recognizes outstanding achievements in applied economic geology. The outstanding achievements so recognized must have been accomplished through commercial exploration or development of metalliferous and/or nonmetalliferous mineral deposits.
