The 2003 M&E Outstanding Young Professional Award  

Awarded To: Terry A. Bush


In recognition of meritorious accomplishments of a young individual working in the mining and exploration industry.
Terryy A.Bush received a B.S. in mining engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1996. He joined the SME student chapter at Virginia Tech in 1993. He received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Missouri-Rolla in mining engineering in 1999 and 2003, respectively. While working on his master’s degree at Rolla, he served as a graduate teaching assistant in the mining engineering department. Bush joined Phelps Dodge Morenci in July 1999 as mining engineer, ore control. He was promoted to database engineer in mine technical support and then to project engineer for long range planning. In May 2003, he moved to Phelps Dodge Bagdad as a senior engineer, technical services. He is currently the administrator of Caterpillar’s MineStar Mine Management system. He is a member of the International Society of Explosives Engineering and Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society.
