The 1980 Robert H. Richards Award
Awarded To: James E. Lawver
For his outstanding contributions for mineral processing, particularly in applications to phosphate and iron ores, which have advanced both the engineering and the theory of flotation, of electrostatic and magnetic separation, and of process control. The profession has been notably strengthened by his productive activities in research and development, reflected by the quantity and the quality of his publications and patents.
The Robert H. Richards Award, established in 1948, and funded by AIME, recognizes achievement in any form which unmistakably furthers the art of mineral beneficiation in any of its branches.
