In recognition of his imaginative applications of the science of geology in the discovery of major copper deposits, for his contributions to the understanding of the geologic history and evolution of porphyry copper deposits and for inspiring three generations of geologists, and for his lecture, ‘Exploration and Discovery at Quebrada Blanca and Collahuasi: 1975-1984’

About The Robert M. Dreyer Award:

The Robert M. Dreyer Award in Applied Economic Geology, established as an annual Award in 1999, recognizes outstanding achievements in applied economic geology. The outstanding achievements so recognized must have been accomplished through commercial exploration or development of metalliferous and/or nonmetalliferous mineral deposits.
