The 1989 President’s Citation Award 
Awarded To: Gordon C. Presley
For singularly significant contributions to membership development for the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration, Inc., resulting from his recruitment of over 1,000 new members and his sustained, dedicated efforts each year to strengthen the Society's corporate member base. The Society, its members, and the public served by the Society are indebted to Gordon C. Presley for these distinctive contributions.
The President’s Citation, established in 1978, recognizes a significant individual contribution culminating in the SME year of tenure of the selecting President. The award consists of a presentation case with a certificate on one side and the citation on the other. Recipients of this award shall be the personal selection of the President of the Society.
