35th APCOM Symposium

The symposium series on the Application of Computers and Operations Research in the Mineral Industry (APCOM) was initiated by The University of Arizona in 1961. Since then APCOM has become an international forum for presentation, discussion and criticism of the state-of-the-art and emerging technologies in the fields of computer and operation research applications applied to the broad minerals industry. At the 11th Symposium in 1973 at University of Arizona, a formal steering committee for the symposium, Council for the Application of Computers and Operations Research in the Mineral Industry, was established with The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (The AusIMM) as a member. APCOM symposia have become truly international, where new ideas as well as original contributions have been launched.

The AusIMM, through its Illawarra Branch, in association with University of Wollongong is proud to host the 35th APCOM Symposium. The APCOM International Council welcomes your participation in the 35th APCOM Symposium to be held from 26 – 30 September 2011, at the University of Wollongong, Australia. The 35th APCOM is aimed at maintaining the common APCOM goal of playing a significant part in contributing to effective decision making processes in the mineral industries.

Themes of the Symposium will include topics in the fields of computer and operation research applications to the mineral industry, including:
  • Geological Modelling
  • Resource Estimation and Geostatistics
  • Process Optimisation and Control
  • Mine Design
