SME announces 2014 Congressional Fellow for mining

Dr. Josh Hoffman, P.E., of the University of Kentucky, has been selected as SME’s Congressional Fellow for 2014-’15. Hoffman holds a Ph.D. in mining engineering from the University of Kentucky and a BS in mining engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology. His dissertation was “A Framework for Understanding the Public’s Perspectives of Mining Applied to the Kentucky Coal Industry.” He has a minor in chemistry and explosives, has conducted postdoctoral research in mining and explosives, and has been a SME member for 10 years. His term in Washington, D.C. will run from September 1, 2014 to August 31, 2015. Hoffman will be introduced to the Board of Directors and the Government and Public Affairs Committee at the SME Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City.
