Mining in Society Merit Badge Resources
SME members nationwide have led in the development of the Boy Scouts of America Mining in Society merit badge which fosters an understanding about the positive impact mining and minerals make on the American quality of life. The MEC website, www.MineralsEducationCoalition.org/MiningInSocietyMB, features resources for counselors and Scouts to use toward earning the new badge. MEC will be compiling stories about our members' and companies' efforts to engage Boy Scouts to earn the Mining in Society merit badge. Please send information and photos about your successful merit badge-related activities to MEC@smenet.org so that they can be recognized. More information about how to become involved is also available on the website.
