Aggregates are the most mined materials in the world! MEC's new 2-sided aggregates poster depicts some of the ways aggregates are created and photos of aggregates. Iron Mining and Processing for Electrical Uses Poster
The Minerals Education Coalition is pleased to announce its newest poster. The poster traces the path of mining and processing taconite ore for use in electrical applications, and provides a colorful, informative piece for teachers to display in the classroom. The poster is a companion piece to the Iron in Our Electrical World video at www.MineralsEducationCoalition.org/videos. The video and poster are designed to enhance high school curricula in geology, chemistry, physics and engineering.

Mining in Society Merit Badge Resources
SME members nationwide have led in the development of the Boy Scouts of America Mining in Society merit badge which fosters an understanding about the positive impact mining and minerals make on the American quality of life. The MEC website, www.MineralsEducationCoalition.org/MiningInSocietyMB, features resources for counselors and Scouts to use toward earning the new badge. MEC will be compiling stories about our members' and companies' efforts to engage Boy Scouts to earn the Mining in Society merit badge. Please send information and photos about your successful merit badge-related activities to MEC@smenet.org so that they can be recognized. More information about how to become involved is also available on the website.
