Dreyer Conference

Attendee Information:

Message of Welcome
Welcome to the Dreyer Conference on the Geology, Production and Markets for Specialty Clays. This is the third in a regular series of
industry conferences designed to focus on various important industrial mineral resources. This conference is the outgrowth of the foresight of Robert M. Dreyer (1963 Chair of the Industrial Minerals Division) who established the Dreyer trust and specified that a portion of the interest from the trust be used to fund professional activities. This conference is designed to provide a forum for a select group of world-renowned invited speakers to present current information on specialty clay resources, process, product and market development opportunities and challenges going forward. The program format has been structured as “off the record”, to promote an open exchange between conference participants, providing ample opportunity for discussion both during and after formal presentations.
The specialty clay industry, covering many unique and value-added minerals, is facing a number of challenges from continued industry
consolidation, the sustainable development of new global resources, and ongoing regulatory and environmental issues. This conference is intended to not only enhance geotechnical knowledge, but also promote awareness of new market and technical advances that will impact the specialty clays industries in the future.
The conference sponsors, the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration, the Industrial Minerals & Aggregates Division, and the
conference’s steering committee thank you for your attendance. We hope that you will find this highly attended meeting informative, relevant, timely and interactive.
Conference Co-Chairs, Marc Herpfer, Oil-Dri Corporation, USA
