Mining And Exploration Division  

The M&E Division was involved with the recent publication of the SME Mining Engineering Handbook, Third Edition.  After several long years, the handbook was put on the market in February of 2011.   Jane Olivier, SME Books Manager, spent many long and hard hours on this massive undertaking.  As a token of appreciation for her time and effort, the M&E Division presented Jane with a crystalline keepsake as a thank you.  The award was presented to Jane on May 12, 2011 at the new SME headquarters.

Objectives

The objectives of the Mining and Exploration Division are to

1. Provide a means for cooperation and communication among professionals engaged in the mining of metals, research, specialized aspects of mining, and exploration technologies,
2. Advance these industry segments by promoting and publishing papers, organizing meetings and programs, and encouraging education on subjects related to the mining and exploration of metals.
