

Paul obtained his BSc at the University of Aston and his PhD degree at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. He is a geotechnical computing specialist with over 15 years experience within the exploration industry.
During his early career he was employed as Head of Computing for the Geochem Group Ltd where acted as Computing Advisor to the Ministry of Petroleum and Minerals, in the Sultanate of Oman.
As Digital Products Manager for the Robertson Group, he was responsible for the strategic development and marketing of their digital data services to the international petroleum industry. He has worked as Data Co-ordinator for Amerada Hess in both the UK and Norway and in his current role as Data Manager for Kerr McGee he is responsible for the data management activities of an entire oil company. In addition, he is currently a Director of Common Data Access Ltd and Chairman of the CDA Seismic Sub-committee, responsible for the construction of the UK National Seismic Databank.
Paul has extensive research experience in computing and exploration and is currently extending his general management skills by studying for a MBA . His research interests include the mineralogy and paragenesis of gold deposits, databases and geoscience data management. He is author/joint author of over thirty papers and articles, yet dislikes analogue devices (such as books!) and set out here to prove the merits of virtual publishing.
