Location:

Altered alkali olivine dolerite. Clee Hills, Shropshire, Britain

An alkali olivine dolerite comprising olivine, pyroxene and plagioclase; the silicates show slight alteration to clay minerals.

Major Minerals:

Magnetite (titanomagnetite), ilmenite, maghaemite.

Minor Minerals:

Haematite, TiO2, minerals, chalcopyrite

Trace Minerals:

Include spinel, pyrrhotite, pentlandite

Textures:

Magnetite crystals are equant, altered along curved fractures to maghaemite and show oxidation-exsolution lamellae of ilmenite. Lobate ilmenite crystals are unaltered. Small euhedral spinels occur within olivine and olivine pseudomorphs. Primary sulphides form rare rounded 'droplets'
