Layered chromitites are found within cumulate rocks of the Basal and Critical zones of the Bushveld complex.

Chromite

Minor Minerals:

Magnetite, haematite, pentlandite, chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite

Trace Minerals:

Include ilmenite, rutile, pyrite, bornite, secondary violarite and millerite, platinum group minerals

Textures:

Euhedral chromite grains have exsolved ilmenite and rutile inclusions aligned along (111) planes of the host chromite. Sulphides are interstitial to the chromite and show supergene alteration
