Thomas F. Peyton

Thomas F. Peyton, a professional engineer in five states, is a senior technical manager with Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) in New York City, NY. He has 40 years of tunnel construction experience, including high pressure water tunnels, shafts and hydraulic structures in a variety of geological conditions using a tunnel boring machine and drill-and-blast methods. He has performed constructibility reviews, developed construction sequencing and staging plans, prepared shaft site layout plans to optimize available work area, implemented impact mitigation measures, organized management and administrative procedures, and developed and implemented work safety programs. Peyton has worked as a contractor for 25 years. He was the construction manager on the Metro- West water supply tunnel in Boston, MA for Stone & Webster, and he was the construction manager and safety director for the New York City water tunnel No. 3, shaft 19B in Queens, NY. Before joining PB in 2002, Peyton worked for Jacobs Civil Inc., where he managed projects in New York City, Colorado and throughout the United States. He received a B.S. in civil engineering from Columbia University in 1969 and an M.B.A. from Pace University in 1977. Peyton joined SME in 2006 upon the merger of SME and the American Underground Construction Association. He served as 2006-2007 chair of the Executive Committee of the Underground Construction Association Division and served as a member of the SME Products and Services Strategic Committee.
