This career guidance booklet is presented as a public service to students, parents and teachers by the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME), Inc. SME is devoted to serving members who are involved in mineral resources exploration, mining, processing and reclamation.

If you are scheduled to do a career day presentation at your local high school, this is an excellent resource. Adapted from several sources including SME’s “Exploring Opportunities: CAREERS in the Minerals Industry” and “Career Match” created by the Women in Mining Education Foundation, this 21-page downloadable pdf lists the education, skills and training needed for dozens of opportunities available in the mining and minerals industries. Descriptions of each job makes this booklet a valuable tool with numerous applications.

The Mineral Information Institute (MII) is dedicated to educating youth about the science of minerals and other natural resources, and about their importance in our every day lives.
