Engineering Solutions for Sustainability: Materials and Resources 4 (ESS: M&R4)

About the Program
This two-day program will be a platform where engineering societies, as well as global organizations with a stake in the world's future, can shape perspectives on the challenges that we face today to help navigate sustainable pathways to solve them. The focus of this conference will be the exchange of innovative circular economy solutions that contribute to competitive advantages. Circular economy aspects that will be targeted are:

Material Optimization, which includes opportunities such as waste reduction and diversion, material reuse and life cycle considerations, and cross-sector flow opportunities.

Energy Efficiency, which considers fuel and electricity savings and the use of renewable energy.

Sustainable Process Optimization, which includes removal of toxics, enhancing biodiversity and improving the health of stakeholders.

Who Should Attend
The program is designed for engineering societies and mill personnel involved in any of the following activities: material optimization, including reuse, recycle and yield; life cycle considerations; cross-sector flow opportunities; energy efficiency and renewable energy; sustainable production optimization; waste management treatments; removal of toxins; and reduction of emissions to air and soil. Presentations have been designed to appeal to operators and supervisors, and entry- and mid-level process and environmental engineers and researchers.
