The qualified candidate should be 40 years of age or younger and will serve as a non-voting member of the SME Board, tasked with helping to shape the strategic direction and governance of the Society, while providing insight on issues affecting younger members.

Ripple Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic

In a win for the industry, a U.S. District Court judge in Alaska ruled in favor of the proposed Pebble Mine in the Bristol Bay Region that's been tied up with Environmental Protection Agency regulatory hurdles for years.

Volunteers Provide Unique Experience for Scouts
In response to the need for an online way to reach Scouts looking to earn their Mining in Society merit badge, MEC volunteers partnered with the Central Florida Scouting Council and found a solution. Merit badge classes were conducted online and reached more than 600 Scouts where they were - at home. Charlie Zimmerman, Pam and Will Wilkinson, Aaron Young, Dan O'Connor, and Katie Kosloski brought their expertise to the first online series.
