Elevating the Need for a Diverse Workforce

More than corporate lingo or trending topics being paid lip service, diversity and inclusion (D&I) - part of which is women in mining - has worked hard over the years to earn its rightful spot in an industry that's historically male-dominated. Fully backing mining's shift to include a more varied and vibrant workforce, SME is putting its best D&I foot forward in a myriad of ways.

At February's MineXchange 2020 SME Annual Conference & Expo in Phoenix, the "International I: Women in Mining" session co-chaired by Resa Furey of Stantec and Victoria Gosteva of Black & Veatch featured a well-represented panel for their insights and tips for a practical way forward where D&I in mining is concerned. Read more about this in the April issue of Mining Engineering and a question-and-answer panel executive discussion that followed.

The June issue of Mining Engineering will include another feature about this important programming at SME.
