Rapid Excavation & Tunneling Conference

Mark your calendar for the 2015 RETC Conference to be held June 7-10, 2015 at the Sheraton New Orleans, LA. Sponsored by SME, RETC is the renowned international forum for the exchange and dissemination of developments and advances in underground construction. More than 1,400 registrants from 30 countries will be attending the conference to learn about the latest innovations in equipment and advancing technologies.

Apply for RETC Scholarships

Applications are being accepted for two special RETC scholarships. The RETC Attendance Award provides selected students with full registration, lodging and airfare to attend the conference. The Executive Committee Scholarships of approximately $2,500 each are awarded to promising students seeking to develop their skills in the tunneling industry.

Crews to begin next phase of Bertha repairs in Seattle. The next phase of repair work on the tunnel boring machine Big Bertha, which is digging the SR-99 project in Seattle, WA, will began this week as crews prepared to lift the cutting face of the machine above ground, Reuters reported.
