Arizona Conference
Space is still available for the 2014 Arizona Conference, hosted by SME in partnership with the Mining Foundation of the Southwest, Dec. 6-8, 2014 at the JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort & Spa. The keynote speaker is John O. Marsden, 2014 SME President and President of Metallurgium. His talk is entitled “iPhones Everywhere, But No One Wants Our Mine.” The conference theme is “A Place to Learn From Professionals in the Mining Community.” Technical programs include blasting, geology, metallurgy/metallurgical processing/smelting and environmental regulation.

| The Minerals Education Coalition needs your help for “booth duty” at the National Science Teachers Association Area Conference in Long Beach, CA, Dec. 3-6, 2014. The booth gives MEC staff and volunteers a venue to share educational resources and experiments while talking with teachers and students about why minerals are important in our everyday lives.
