Meet Ruby Jost, a senior at the University of Kentucky studying mining engineering and the president of the Norwood SME chapter on campus. In this video, Ruby shares how she discovered mining engineering, why she made the switch from civil, and what makes the mining industry such a rewarding, versatile career path.
Ruby talks about the supportive professors who’ve guided her journey, the value of building connections with peers at other schools, and why getting involved early—through networking and student design competitions—has been so important to her success.
